WATERVILLE -- The Pine Creek area holds a lot of beauty, adventure and community, but it also holds a hidden gem called Up the Crick.
Up the Crick, located at 5099 N. Route 44, is not only an artisan market featuring a variety of antiques and crafts, but they also offer wine tasting and tours, and indoor workshops.
Erika Morgan opened Up the Crick in 2019. The shop features 32 local artisans. Six vendors are certified PA Wild and six are certified PA Preferred. Up the Crick is both certified PA Wild and Preferred.
Up the Crick's wine tasting tour is one of six tours that guests can experience listed in Clinton County Visitors Bureau on the Susquehanna Grains and Grapes trail. Guests will receive a stamp for each location that they have made a purchase. With all six stamps earned, participants are placed in a drawing quarterly to win a prize.
Up the Crick's menu features 14 wines and a selection of hard apple ciders. Wines are made by Freas Farm Winery out of Berwick. There are a variety of dry, semi, sweet and specialty wines available for tasting and purchasing. Specialty wines are not made from grapes but rather other fruits such as cranberries, apples, raspberries and blueberries.
Wine slushies are also available year round.
Up the Crick also sells other food items, such as trail mixes, crackers, pretzels, meats and cheeses and pickled vegetables. These items can be purchased and snacked on while enjoying their wine. Recently, Up the Crick began offering Galliker's soft serve ice cream to guests.
"Buy a chunk of cheese or some of our pretzels and sit with your friends and mingle," Morgan said.
Guests are welcomed to sit and enjoy themselves at the bistro tables. Wine can be purchased by the bottle, glass or slushie.
"We just want people to feel welcome to come here and expect this as a destination where you can expand on," Morgan said.
On the second Sunday of the month, Up the Crick will be hosting its Makers Market where different vendors can set up and sell their goods. The next Makers Market will be held on Aug. 13.
"We will be having an antique car show," Morgan said. "We always have tons of artists, a food truck, a brewery, live music and family fun. Every market is themed differently."
Each month, Up the Crick offers different discounts on an item from its winebar. For the month of August, the featured item will be Peach Belini slushie pouches which will be 10% off listed price.
The business is open Wednesday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
