Cogan Station couple celebrates 50th wedding anniversary

Rick and MaryEllen Updegraff, of Cogan Station, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on May 2, 1970, by Monsignor Joseph T. Shaughnessy at Annunciation Church, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Rick is the son of the late Gertrude Updegraff and Dominic Mines. He is a 1966 graduate of Williamsport High School and is an Army veteran, serving 13 months in Vietnam. He retired from PennDOT in 2002 after 32 years of service.

MaryEllen is the daughter of the late Emerson and Mary Louise McLaughlin. She is a 1967 graduate of Williamsport High School. MaryEllen retired from PPL in 2004 after 33 years of service.

They are the parents of two sons, Scott and his wife, Sheryl, of Muncy, and Ryan and his wife, Cindy; and stepdaughter, Stevie, of Loyalsock Township.

Due to COVID-19, a family dinner and trip to New England have been postponed until a later date.
