Nancy A. and Nelson E. Smith, of Milton, observed their 55th wedding anniversary Jan. 9, 2020.

They were married by Rev. Paul D. Schroeder in 1965 at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church, Williamsport.

The former Nancy Powell is the daughter of the late Anna K. and Robert H. Powell. She graduated from Loyalsock Township High School in 1963. She retired in 2005 after 20 years as an elementary secretary from the Chambersburg Area School District, Chambersburg.

Nelson is the son of the late Elizabeth B. and Carl E. Smith Sr. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1960 and served in the Army with the White House Communications Agency from 1960 to 1966. He was employed by the federal government as a department of army civilian in Winchester, Virginia, and Fort Ritchie, Maryland, retiring in June 1998 after 38 years.

They are the parents of a daughter, Capt. Leslie N. Smith, USA, retired, of King George, Virginia; and a son, Dr. Ryan M. Smith, LTC, MC, USA, of Honolulu, Hawaii.
