50th anniversary for high school sweethearts
High school sweethearts, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wenner, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 12. They were married in Bastress at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the late Rev. Joseph F. Fox.
Mrs. Wenner, the former Joyce Welshans, is a native of Oval and is the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn Welshans. She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1966 and worked for the West Co. in Jersey Shore.
Mr. Wenner, a native of Bastress, is the son of the late Carl and Frances Wenner. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1966 and attended Williamsport Area Community College for architectural drafting. He was employed by the Department of Highways as a highway draftsman, and after 35 years retired from PennDOT as a Lycoming County assistant maintenance manager. Following retirement, he worked as a construction inspector for Larson Design Group. The Wenners are the parents of two children, Jeffrey Wenner (Kimber) of Oval, and Jessica Derr (Seth) of Cogan Station. They have six grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Eli and Ava Wenner, and Dalton and Taylynn Derr.
