Mr. and Mrs. John Dorin observe 60th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John Dorin, Montoursville, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary Sept 3. They were married in 1960 by Rev. Leonard Novak at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge. They are members of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Montoursville.
Mrs. Dorin, the former Ann Marie Marciniak, is a native of Old Forge. She is the daughter of the late Sophie and Walter Marciniak. Ann Marie graduated from Old Forge High School in 1957 and was employed by LL Stearns, Fidelity Bank and Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She is a homemaker.
Mr. Dorin, a native of Taylor, is the son of the late Mary and John Dorin Sr. John graduated from Taylor High School in 1954 and Temple University School of Engineering in 1958. He retired from GTE Sylvania in 1993 after 30 years of employment in management. He then worked for Jersey Shore Steel in materials management and retired after eight years. He was on the Foundation Board of Bloomsburg University and past chairman, past president and member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, past president of the Association of Mayors of the Boroughs of Pennsylvania, past chairman of the Bloomsburg University of Trustees and the past president of the Bob Edwards Foundation. Mr. Dorin was the mayor of Montoursville for 36 years and retired in 2017.
They are the parents of one son, the late James J., and two daughters, Cynthia Layton, Greencastle, and Michelle, Selinsgrove. They have one grandson.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration will be held in the near future.
