Montoursville couple celebrates 70th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McLaughlin, of Montoursville, will observe their 70th wedding anniversary on Nov. 12. They were married by Rev. Henry M. Savacool in Owego, New York, in 1950.
The former Ester Tordis Larsen is a native of Feda, Norway, and is the daughter of the late Sam and Olga Larsen. She came to the United States in 1947. She was employed by International Furniture and Weldon Pajama Factory before becoming a mother. She then devoted her time and energy to her family and helping those in need. Ester enjoys knitting and spending time with friends and family.
Gerald, a native of Ralston, is the son of the late Howard and Viola McLaughlin. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. After serving, he was employed by George C. Roller Construction and Avco Lycoming, now known as Textron. He retired in 1992. Gerald is an avid fisherman and enjoys time in the outdoors.
Gerald and Ester are the parents of a daughter, Diana, wife of David Bailey, of Williamsport, and a son, Dale, husband of Kelly Lamper, of Hughesville. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gerald and Ester were honored by a family dinner to celebrate this occasion.
