Caputos observe 60th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. William L. Caputo Sr. of Williamsport observed their 60th wedding anniversary on July 15.
Bill and Gloria were married by the Reverend C. Wayne Peterman at the former St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Newberry.
Mrs. Caputo, the former Gloria J. Hepburn, is a native of Williamsport. She was employed at Cluett and Peabody as a seamstress before she became a full-time homemaker and stay at home mom to her four children. Later in life, Gloria babysat all five of her grandchildren and continues to play a huge part in their lives.
Mr.Caputo is also a native of Williamsport. He is retired from his job as a self-employed peddler with Caputo’s Produce. He was a third-generation peddler of Caputo’s Produce, which was started by his grandparents when they came to America from Italy and continued by his father and carried on through him. Later in life, he also helped to babysit their five grandchildren and continues to play a key role in their lives.
Bill and Gloria are the parents of three daughters, Kimberley Shick, Karen Plankenhorn and Sharon Tressler and a son, William Jr. They have five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
