Couple celebrates 55 years


Herbert and Bonnie Seltzer of Montoursville celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Friday, Aug. 27. They were married in the Embury Methodist Church in Scranton by the Rev. Roy DuVall. They are now members of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Montoursville.

Bonnie, the former Bonnie Dowse, was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Robert and Jean Dowse. She is a 1961 graduate of West Scranton High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in music education from Mansfield State College. She retired from the Montoursville Area School District after teaching music for 20 years.

Herbert is the son of the late Herbert and Edith Seltzer. He is a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Mansfield State College and his master’s and principal’s certification from Bucknell University. He retired from the Williamsport Area School District as a teacher and administrator for 33 years.

Herb and Bonnie are the parents of Amy of Montoursville, Sheryl (Brandon) of Montoursville and Jeffrey (Michelle) of Hummelstown. They have six grandchildren: Julia, James and Josh Seltzer, Chase and Cole Snyder and Blake Everitt.

They celebrated their anniversary with a family trip to Virginia.
