Couples sees 50 years married

Mr. And Mrs. James Joseph Kita are observing their golden 50th anniversary Jan. 22, 2022.

They were married in the Annunciation Church, now known as St. Joseph the Worker Parish, by Father Gerald Wasko.

Mrs. Kita, the former Jeanette Marie McCloskey, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Robert E. Lewis and Lillian M. Lewis.

She graduated from the Williamsport High School in 1971 and is retired with working casual as a unit clerk in the Emergency Department at the UPMC Williamsport hospital.

Mr. Kita, also a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late John W. Kita and J. Leona Kita.

He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1967 and received and associate degree in business management from the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, in 1969. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Bad Kissingen, Germany, with the B Battery 2/41 Artillery, 3rd Infantry Division. He is also retired and works part-time as a transporter at the UPMC Williamsport hospital.

They have a daughter, Tracy M., and a son, Jeffery M. (Loreal). There are three grandchildren, Gannon, Ayven and Kaislee, the love of their lives.

James and Jeanette, on their 45th wedding anniversary, renewed their vows in front of God and their close family and friends. Father Brian Van Fossen officiated the ceremony.

In honor of their anniversary, a celebration dinner by Tracy, Jeffery and Loreal Kita and friends was held at the Mulberry Street Cafe. The family is planning a vacation to Disney World in Florida.
