Glenn and Sharon Markle, of 355 Sylvan Dell Park Rd, South Williamsport, were honored Mar. 11 at a 50th anniversary celebration hosted by their two daughters, Brenda Lukasiewicz, South Williamsport, and Chelsea Markle, Washington, D.C. With numerous relatives and friends attending, the event was held at Treasure Castle Playland in South Williamsport.

Glenn Larue is the son of the late Glenn and Mary Markle, Nisbet; and Sharon Ann is the daughter of the late Clyde and Betty Willits, Cogan Station. Glenn graduated from South Williamsport High School and Sharon from Jersey Shore Area High School.

The Markles were joined together in holy matrimony on Mar. 11, 1972 at Salem Assembly of God, Williamsport. Mr. Markle began working at his father's Plumbing & Heating, Dewey Ave., Williamsport, in 1972. He eventually became owner/manager. The company has been operating for 70 years in 2022. Mrs. Markle worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance for 24 years, followed by five years at Markle's Plxumbing & Heating. They purchased the South Williamsport United Methodist Church complex in 2008 and transformed it into the current Little Treasures Pre-School & Daycare and Treasure Castle Playland. Sharon was instrumental in its development, and she currently handles the organization's finances.

The couple have two beautiful granddaughters: Genesis and EdenGrace Lukasiewicz, ages 18 and 15 respectively.

Sharon's many interests include singing, piano, cooking, sewing, decorating, gardening, traveling -- and, especially, organizing family outings and vacations. Glenn has enjoyed motorcycles and muscle cars, playing the drums, hunting, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, and taekwondo, in which he has a black belt. He served as Armstrong Township supervisor for 28 years. The Markles love to watch bald eagles flying over the Susquehanna outside their kitchen window.

Sharon and Glenn are active members of Citychurch, 36 E. Fourth St., where they are deacons and involved in various aspects of its ministry.
