South Side couple celebrates 55th anniversary with family

Patricia Ann (Churba) and Raymond Charles Walters Jr. of South Williamsport observed their 55th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2022.

The couple was married in 1967 by the Rev. Henry Wayda at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Newberry.

Mrs. Walters, the former Patricia Ann Churba, is the daughter of the late Helen (Mahonski) and J. Richard Churba. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in 1966. She is retired.

Mr. Walters is the son of the late Arlene (Renn) and Raymond Charles Walters Sr. He graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Independence and was deployed to Vietnam. He is retired from Lycoming County.

They are the parents of a daughter, Kimberly Moore, of South Williamsport; and a son, Jason Walters, also of South Williamsport.

There are four granddaughters and two grandsons.

In honor of their anniversary, a blessing of their wedding vows is being held today at the Immaculate Conception Parish and a surprise outdoor dinner party at the home of their daughter and son-in-law will follow. In September, they will be celebrating on a cruise to the Caribbean, given as a gift to them from their children and grandchildren.
