Betty Jane (Watts) and Harold E. Springman, of 611 Willow St., Montoursville, will be honored at their home (open house) from 2 to 4 p.m., hosted by their daughter, Kay Nelson, on Oct. 1.
Harold is the son of the late Raymond and Gladys Springman. Batty is the daughter of the late Jacob and Amy Watts.
Betty and Harold graduated from Montoursville Area High School, where they were high school sweethearts.
The Springmans were joined in Holy matrimony on Oct. 4, 1952. They were married by the Rev. Hershey at St. James Church Parsonage, Cherry Street, Montoursville.
Mr. Sringman began his career at Anchor Darling Valve in 1953 and retired in 1996 as an inspector with 43 years of experience.
Mrs. Springman began working at Carry McFalls and went to GTE Sylvania in 1964 and retired as an inspector in 1992 with 27.5 years of employment.
The couple was blessed with two children: a daughter, Kay Nelson (Charlie), of Pennsdale, and a son, the late Kim Springman. They have five grandsons, three great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters, which bring much joy and laughter to their hearts.
Betty's many interests include cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, playing sequence and spending time with her family.
Harold enjoys yard work, tractors and being the recipient of Betty's cooking. He also loves playing cards, playing sequence and watching "The Price is Right."
Betty and Harold are active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Muncy, where they have been members for 70 years. They are sure to tell you that they love their church and their church family. Harold's grandparents, and as far back as he can remember, were all members of this church as well.
When asked the secret to a long and happy marriage, their reply was, "God played a huge role in our marriage. God gave us everything we needed. Well, it's just that ya gotta go with the flow and don't give up."
