William T. (Bill) Giles Sr. and Sharon R. (Terry) Giles, of Nisbet, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16, 2022. The couple was married by the Msgr. William J. Fleming at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Montoursville.
Mrs. Giles, the former Terry Barnfield, is the daughter of the late William and Frances Barnfield. She graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1970 and Williamsport Area Community College in 1972. She retired with 19 years of service from Susquehanna Bank in 2001 and retired from FedEx Ground with 19 years of service in 2020.
Mr. Giles is the son of the late M. Maxine (Miller) and Carter L. Giles Sr. He graduated from Montoursville High school in 1969 and attended Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. He later attended Williamsport Area Community College where he met his wife, Terry, and claims it was love at first sight. He worked for 43 years as a truck driver and retired in 2020.
Bill and Terry are the proud parents of two children, William Jr., of Nisbet, and Tracie (Mitch) Christensen, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The couple have five grandchildren, Vincent Kopysciansky, Mia Frances Kopysciansky, Emma Giles, Megan Giles and Elle Christensen.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a trip to the Carolinas.
