Williamsport couple celebrates 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. J. Milton Rogers, Williamsport, observed their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 29, 2022.

They were married by the Rev. Joseph Fox at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bastress, where they are members.

Mrs. Rogers, the former Joan Steppe, is a native of Collonsville. She is the daughter of the late Genevieve and Frank Steppe and the stepdaughter of the late Mary Steppe, Liberty. She graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School in 1960.

Mr. Rogers, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Catherine and Harry Rogers. He graduated from the former St. Mary's High School, now St. John Neumann Regional Academy, in 1956. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1956 to 1962 with two years of active duty as a radio operator on the USS NOA. He retired in 2001 from Kvaerner Inc. (formerly E. Keelher Company) as a welder. He is an avid musician, playing lead guitar in local bands for many years.

They are the parents of three sons, Brian (Lisa), of Sharpsville; Travis (Acacia), of Nisbet; Brett, of Scranton; and a daughter, Rene (Wayne), Jacks Hollow.

They have six grandchildren: Miranda Schneider, Trevor Schneider, and Kaydence, Trent, Blaine and Keira Rogers.

In honor of their anniversary, they attended an anniversary mass at Immaculate Conception Church on Sept. 29, and an anniversary dinner will be held at the Watsontown Inn.
