Wayne and Audrey "Janie" Newton will celebrate their 70th anniversary on Feb. 6, 2023. They were married on Feb. 6, 1953, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Williamsport by Rev. Law.
Wayne and Janie graduated from the Williamsport High School in 1951. Janie worked at L.L. Stearns Merchandizing Office, GTE Sylvania Montoursville and Neece Paper Company. Wayne served four years in the U.S. Air Force, was a mathematics teacher at Solanco, Montoursville, and Williamsport high schools, and was head principal at Williamsport Area High School from 1974 to 1991, when he retired. After retiring from Williamsport School District, Wayne worked at Fairfield Ford in Montoursville.
Wayne and Janie have three children, Patty Bower (Bob), Sherry Sandt (Gary) and Rob Newton (Patrice); four grandsons, Bo and Ryan Bower, Robbie and Sam Newton; and three great-grandsons, Eliah, Emerson and Brooks.
