Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Barkman of Jersey Shore observed their 65th wedding anniversary July 13, 2023.
They were married by the Rev. Ardell G. Gould at the First Methodist Church of Jersey Shore.
Mrs. Barkman is the former Shirlee S. Moltz and a native of Jersey Shore. She is the daughter of the late Elma and Herbert Moltz. She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1956 and the former Williamsport School of Commerce, which became Pennsylvania College of Technology. She was membership secretary for the former Lycoming County Automobile Club (AAA); a catalog clerk for J.C. Penny in Jersey Shore and Lock Haven; and a library aide and lunch room supervisor for Jersey Shore Area School District.
Mr. Barkman, a native of St. Albans, New York, is the son of the late Margaret and Homer Barkman. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1958 and spent 16 months in Korea. He retired in 1991 from the former Bell Atlantic, where he was employed as a dispatch and repair supervisor.
They are the parents of two daughters, Beth G. Finn of Lock Haven and Sally A. Barkman of Reedsville. They have two grandchildren -- Chelsey Huff of Williamsport and Logan Huff of Linden and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Amelia Huff of Williamsport.
