Loyalsock Township couple celebrates platinum wedding anniversary

Calvin and Janet Myers of Loyalsock Township celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 26, 2023. Janet Louise, daughter of the late Raymond and Louise Fisher Bertin graduated from St. Mary's High School and attended The Williamsport School of Commerce. Calvin Sanford, son of the late James and Verna Myers, attended the Williamsport High School and was drafted and served in the Korean War.
Upon returning home from the war the couple met on a blind double date at the Harvest Moon Drive-in. That date turned into a friendship, and they were married a year later at St. Boniface Catholic Church on September 26, 1953.
They built their own home in Loyalsock Township where they still reside. Janet worked as the executive secretary for the Department of Arts and Music in the Williamsport School District. She retired after 35 years. Calvin was a respected and sought after self-employed painter working in commercial, residential and municipal buildings for the Williamsport area. He retired after 45 years. Together, they traveled numerous times across the United States.
Together they raised a son, Philip Calvin (wife Kay) of Montoursville, and a daughter, Paula Jean (husband Michael) of Virginia. They are also blessed with 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, whom they adore. They are members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Muncy
