Donald and Yvonne Smith of Jersey Shore celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on December 28.
Vonnie Shalette Smith is the daughter of the late Irving and Alice Shalette. Vonnie graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1962. Don, the son of the late Harry and Frances Smith, graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1960. They were married at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.
Don taught school for 36 years, was a coach and athletic director. Vonnie worked for state Sen. Roger Madigan and later at UPMC. She was also involved in many community activities.
They had two wonderful daughters, Kellie and Lisa, who are now deceased. Don and Von are blessed with a son-in-law, Dave Lovett, two beautiful granddaughters Madison and Jennifer Lovett. Don and Von still live in Jersey Shore.
