Carl and Susan Benjamin will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 26. They were married at Holy Rosary Church in Scranton on Sept. 26, 1964, by Msgr. Martin Kilcullen.
Mrs. Benjamin retired with over 37 years in the nursing profession, the last 12 years being as the health care administrator at the state correctional institution at Muncy.
Mr. Benjamin retired after 39 years in law enforcement, including 28 years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, the last being 11 years as a deputy U.S. Marshal court security officer in charge of security at our Federal Building here in Williamsport.
They are the parents of two children, so Christopher (Carol) a professional photographer in the Philadelphia area, and a daughter, Carla B. Durdan (Michael) retired as a senior federal probation officer with 23 years of service in the Philadelphia area. They have one grandchild, William S. Durdan.
The couple resided in the Sylvan Dell Park area of Armstrong Township for over 50 years before selling their home and taking up residence in the retirement community of the Williamsport Home and Apartments. They plan to mark the even with a private dinner here in Williamsport at the Peter Herdic House.
