David and Barbara (Kuhns) Shaffer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2025. They were married on June 21, 1975, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Williamsport.
David is the son of Florence Shaffer and the late Merritt Shaffer. David retired from Kellogg's in 2022. He works part-time for Snyder Equipment Co. and the Fairfield Township building. Barbara is the daughter of the late Charlie and June Kuhns. She retired from the Montoursville Area School District as a paraprofessional and is employed part-time by Koser Busing as a school bus driver.
They are the parents of three children, Kenneth (Teresa) Shaffer, Timothy (Theresa) Shaffer of Montoursville and Zachary (Ericka) Shaffer of Trout Run. They have been blessed with eight grandchildren, Christopher (Karly) Shaffer, Rachel (Bodie) Kaufman, Adrian, Erika, Brendon and Cadence Shaffer, Rylynn Baver and the late Layne Shaffer; and three great-grandchildren, Emerie Jean and Charlie David Shaffer and Merritt Marie Kaufman.
They celebrated with an Alaska cruise in May, a camping trip to Frontier Town in June with all three boys and family and the grandchildren are taking them to Canada in August.
