Hayden’s Heart to host ‘Shop for a Cause’ fundraiser at 33 East

2 min read

Hayden’s Heart Inc. will hold a “Shop for a Cause” fundraiser at 5 p.m. Thursday at 33 East, 33 E. Fourth St.

Through the fundraising event, Hayden’s Heart has partnered with local jeweler Jennifer Engel Designs and restaurant 33 East to raise awareness and funds to support 7-month-old Brouke Jaelyn Hammons, daughter of Miranda Mcquade and Bill Hammons, of Williamsport.

Brouke suffers from a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and is at Geisinger Medical Center where she has undergone several surgeries and treatments.

A wide selection of Jennifer Engel Designs jewelry will be available to buy, with a percentage of all proceeds benefitting Hayden’s Heart Inc.

Those who are unable to attend the event may visit Jennifer Engel Designs online at her Etsy store or website, jenniferengel.com.

All proceeds from now until the event will go towards the fundraiser.

Users should mention in the comments section to the seller that they desire their proceeds to benefit Hayden’s Heart.

The event will feature live music from Zac Baggett and a special menu selection from 33 East chef Kevin Nash. The restaurant will donate a portion of that evening’s guest checks to the cause.

Shop for a Cause is organized by Hayden’s Heart Inc., a nonprofit organization created by Rob and Ady (Smith) Dorsett, formerly of Williamsport, whose son died of a congenital heart defect in August 2012 at 5 months old.

The mission of Hayden’s Heart is to raise congenital heart disease awareness, help keep Hayden’s memory alive and to assist families with medical bills and travel expenses.

The organization hosts numerous fundraisers each year in memory of Hayden, choosing a fellow heart family to support whose child is beating the odds.

Raffle tickets may be bought at Jennifer Engel Designs, 901 Hepburn St. or by contacting Ady Dorsett at ady.dorsett@haydens heart.org.
