73rd Annual Flaming Foliage Festival starts Saturday

RENOVO -- Chairs are lined up along the parade route a week in advance.
Vendors are already flocking to Renovo Borough, readying their food, crafts and wares.
The 73rd Annual Flaming Foliage Festival is nearly ready for visitors to travel near and far beginning Saturday.
This year, 23 high school seniors from throughout central Pennsylvania will vie for Miss Flaming Foliage. Each young lady will take part in the highlight of the weekend -- the Parade of Queens -- starting at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
More than 100 vendors will be set in place, already beginning to sell items as they open for business Saturday morning and last throughout the weekend. The craft show will, of course, be set up at the Flaming Foliage Festival Lot in Renovo at the red lights on the intersection of state Routes 120 and 144.
In addition to returning favorites, 25 new vendors have registered to be included in this years' craft shown. New crafters are on tap along with a caramel apple cart, Amish donuts and color street nails are just some of the faces.
The parade and the pageantry that goes along with it such as bands, floats, smiling Queens, firetrucks and plenty of candy will no doubt provide a lifetime of memories for young kids, first time visitors as well as people coming home to visit family and friends on the busiest day of the year for Renovo.
A 20-foot-high T-Rex dinosaur is so large that area fire member's of the Citizen's Hose Company of South Renovo are needed to walk him through town.
Plenty of action will be provided by nearly every person, business and club in Renovo as the community rolls out its proverbial red carpet and welcomes all visiting the town.
