Nickolas Puzio, of Muncy, has earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement rank within the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of Troop 25 chartered by the Muncy Baptist Church. Nick is the third scout in Troop 25 to earn the Eagle rank in the last four years.
To earn the rank of Eagle, each scout must attain at least 21 merit badges as well as demonstrate leadership, including successfully planning and completing a community service project.
Nick earned 42 merit badges, planned and led a community service project benefiting the Muncy Historical Society. Nick's Eagle project consisted of permanently marking the four corners of where Fort Brady stood along Glade Run in Muncy over 240 years ago. The corners were marked with non-creosote railroad ties (standing upright) and made to look like a fort. This Eagle Scout project is the first step in plans that the Muncy Historical Society has for the land to benefit the Muncy community, which will be called Fort Brady Heritage Park.
Nick received the Eagle Award at a Court of Honor ceremony held on March 25. At the ceremony, he was presented with a Citation from the State House of Representatives by Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburn Township, and the Lycoming County Award of Excellence by county commissioners Scott Metzger and Rick Mirabito.
Nick is a 2022 graduate of Muncy High School and is currently a freshman at Lycoming College. He is the son of Stephen and Kelly Puzio, of Muncy.
