Ace’s Place collects almost $1,000 in gift donations

LOCK HAVEN -- About $1,000 worth of toys and gifts will be donated to local children in Clinton County.
Clinton County Children and Youth gathered the donations from Ace's Place, in Mill Hall, Friday afternoon and will distribute the gifts to local kids in need.
Collectively, Ace Toner, owner of Ace's Place; Courtney Meyer, owner of Tastefully Simple; and Amy Abbotts helped collect the donations during a Jolly Mart event on Nov. 18. A donation jar and table were also available for cash and gift donations.
They began planning the event back in October. The event included pictures with a Grinch backdrop, games, crafts and vendors. All the proceeds from the event went towards donations.
"The Jolly Mart was like a little yard sale for kids to go and shop. We had pictures with a Grinch backdrop -- that was $5 donations. We had a couple of games -- charged $1 to play them. Everything that was at the Jolly Mart was donated by us," Meyer said.
Ace's Place, as of November, will continue to be an outlet for fundraising events as well as a space for parties -- bringing the community together. It is accessible to anyone. Unlike services like GoFundMe, everything raised in the space is 100% received.
Previously, Toner used the space for her clothing boutique, Ace's Closet. Now, the trio are already planning on their next slew of fundraising events with the space. They try to fundraise regularly for local charities and families through donations, raffles and more.
"Every two to three months, we try to fund. It's always something local whether it is involved with families or just charities already around here," Toner said.
They will volunteer themselves to help as well if needed by the event holders. Any upcoming events will be posted to the Ace's Place Facebook.
"If people have a need and they know we're going to hold a fundraiser or basket raffle, it's always nice to help," Meyer said.
Prior to working together, the three were fundraising individually. After becoming acquainted through events and being business owners, they joined up together in one space.
"It is just easier if we have a space to do it, we have each other to support each other, to throw ideas out and to volunteer our time together because we all have that mindset that our community needs more than what people think sometimes," Abbotts said.

"I think the biggest thing is letting people know that this is a space that if you have a need, and the needs filled. Say if you have a family member that came down with cancer and you need a space to hold fundraisers this is a good place to do it. It's centrally located. Everybody knows where it's at," Abbotts said.
