Cogan Station woman celebrates 98 years

Gertrude "Trudy" Beatty of Cogan Station, formerly of Jersey Shore, celebrated her 98th birthday on March 31. She was honored by her family with a surprise birthday party. Celebrating with Trudy were her daughter, Glenda Nelson, and husband, Ed, of Rauchtown, and her son, James (Jim) Beatty and wife, Cindy, of Cogan Station, with whom Trudy now lives. Also in attendance were Grandchildren, Scott Nelson; Amy Wall and husband, Brad; Tyler Beatty and wife, Amanda; Jocelyn Rockwell and husband, Mark. Great-grandchildren, Victor Nelson, Trevor Wall, Brynlee and Ellasyn Rockwell, and Peyton and Avery Beatty; Great-great twin granddaughters, Annabella and Alena Nelson, and step-great-great grandson, Carter Klaras. Unable to attend due to illness were granddaughter-in-law, Donna Nelson, and daughter-in-law, Carol Beatty, wife of Trudy's late son, Wayne Beatty, who passed away in 2020 after his battle with cancer.
Trudy was especially blessed to have 5 generations of family help her celebrate. With Trudy were 4 generations of the Nelson family, her daughter, Glenda, grandson, Scott, great-grandson, Victor and twin great-great-granddaughters, Alena and Annabella.
Trudy was married to Glenmar "Pud" Beatty for 67 years prior to his passing in 2015.
Before retiring as a beautician in 1996, Trudy owned and operated Trudy's Beauty Salon for many years in Jersey Shore. As a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore, Trudy is proud to be one of its oldest living members.
