The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host baseball historian Lou Hunsinger Jr. at its Coffee Hour at 10 a.m., June 13 in its Community Room.
According to a news release, Hunsinger will be speaking on 'The Negro Leagues: Respect & Recognition."
The lecture is being held in association with the celebration of Juneteenth -- June 19. Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The name "Juneteenth" references the date of the holiday, combining the words "June" and "nineteenth."
Louis E. Hunsinger Jr. lives in Williamsport and, the news release said, has written extensively on local history as well local professional baseball history. He is freelance writer for local newspapers and news outlets. He has had articles published in "The National Pastime," as well as in the "Biographical Encyclopedia of American Sports." He is a member of the Society of American Baseball Research, the Jimmy Sebring-George Stovey Chapter which meets in Williamsport. He has a bachelor's degree in political science with minors in history and journalism.
