The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host local singer/songwriter Scott Schell at our Society Program at 2 p.m., July 21, in the museum's Community Room.
The program, sponsored by Van Campen Motors, is free and open to the public.
Schell specializes in writing/performing songs with local references. Some of the music that may be performed includes "All on Board the Hiawatha"; and "We're Playing in the Little League Today", the first version of which was written by Carl Stotz and Jimmy Gehron.
"Schell's performance will bring to mind that it will soon be the return of Little League Baseball to the area," a news release said. "Schell performs on the guitar, bass, violin, piano, harmonica, keyboard, as well as singing. For a toe tapping time, please join us."
As the event is part of the museum's Society Program, admission to the museum will be free. The third Sunday of each month, May through October is free admission day.
Located at 858 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, the Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society provides a history of the region with information about Native American culture, frontier exploration, the development of the Pennsylvania canal, immigration during the 19th century, and the logging and lumbering era of the 19th century. The Taber Museum also houses the world-class Larue Shempp Model Train Collection.
The museum is open for touring Tuesdays through Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays (May through October), 1 to 4 p.m.
