Facelift for Eagle Grange

Montgomery High School FFA members Landyn Rine, Montana Twigg, Nate Winters, Grayden Staggart and older brother Owen Staggart -- a Montgomery FFA alumni -- spearheaded a service project to remove old shrubs at Eagle Grange Hall, located as 32 East Blind Road in Montgomery, to make way for a siding and insulation project scheduled for this fall. Nate Winters brought the truck and Grayden Staggert brought/ran the mini-excavator. The young men all worked together to complete the job, including disposal of the brush. Chris Ulrich, FFA adviser and Grange friend, took the pictures and then treated everyone to breakfast at the nearby Allenwood Cafe. The final part of the improvements to the home of Pennsylvania's first Grange will be new landscaping designed and planted by students from the nearby Earth Science Center of the PA College of Technology next spring. "Eagle Grange No. 1 highly values the fine relationship developed with both schools over the past few years and commends the students for donating their skills/labor in voluntary service to improve the community," a news release said.
