TIM WEIGHT/Express Correspondent 2024 Centre County Grange Fair Queen Kryslynn Ronk receives her crown from the 2023 Centre County Grange Fair Queen Teaghan Bair.
To much fanfare, the Grange Fair crowned this year’s queen, Kryslynn Ronk, 20, of Spring Mills, kicking off the fair’s 150th anniversary on Wednesday.
The Penns Valley Area High School graduate was crowned the 2024 Centre County Grange Fair Queen by last year’s winner, Teaghan Bair, during a ceremony that celebrates agriculture and community tradition.
The coronation marked the unofficial start of the Centre County Grange Fair, America’s last tenting fair. The fair which will run from today through Aug. 24 at the Grange Park fairgrounds, 149 Homan Lane, Centre Hall, will feature live music, games, great food and, above all, a celebration of the county’s agriculture.
“I just want to thank the judges, and I want to thank my mom for getting me prepared for tonight,” Ronk said in her remarks following her coronation.
To clinch the crown, she competed against queen contestants, Katherine Coopey, of Port Matilda, Grace Novosel, of Howard, and Madelina High, of State College.
As the announcement was made, Ronk beamed with excitement before embracing Bair in a hug.
Runner-up Katherine Coopey was named 2024’s Alternate Queen.
The judges were not the only fans of Kryslynn in the competition. Her performance also won her the admiration of the audience, who selected her as fan favorite.
“Thank you all for voting for me for fan favorite as well. I hope you guys have an amazing Grange Fair,” she said.
