In the spirit of the 2024 Olympic Games taking place now in Paris, Williamsport South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center realized they have five residents that participated in Special Olympics back in their youth and wanted to recognize them.

These former Special Olympians participated in bowling, softball throw, frisbee throw, long jump, 50-meter run and long distance walking.

Tracy Rooker, program manager of Lycoming County Special Olympics and volunteer Marc Follmer presented them with certificates of recognition, a news release said. The residents were also presented with Lycoming County Special Olympics T-Shirts and enjoyed a cake with other residents in the Social Room.

Tracy's mother-in-law and Marc's sister Colette are also residents of Williamsport South.
