Maria Alvarez of Williamsport celebrated her 100th birthday recently. Born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico on Valentine's Day in 1925, Alvarez left home on her own at 21 and moved to New York City where she learned the craft of watch repair in the Diamond District. Alvarez said she is proud of the work she has accomplished while being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
