Dwell to offer birthday program for foster kids

By From Staff Reports 2 min read

Dwell recently announced the launch of its Made to Celebrate! program, "which will bring joy and smiles to children experiencing foster or kinship care on their birthdays," a news release said. "This new initiative is designed to ensure that these children feel valued and loved, even when life feels uncertain."

Children experiencing foster or kinship care often encounter significant emotional struggles, including feelings of loss, instability, and isolation. Birthdays, typically a time of joy, can instead serve as painful reminders of separation.

"Made to Celebrate! aims to create positive memories and reinforce each child's sense of self-worth by celebrating their special day in a meaningful way," the news release said.

Through the program, children in Lycoming and Clinton Counties will receive a personalized birthday package filled with items from their wish list, as well as additional surprises. Each package also includes a gift certificate to a local bakery or ice cream shop. These carefully curated packages are created in collaboration with the child's foster or kinship caregiver and are mailed to the child's home to arrive in time for their birthday.

"I'm so excited to be running a program that brings joy to children experiencing foster or kinship care, especially on their birthdays," said Kathie Sinibaldi, program coordinator, according to a news release. "Birthdays are such a meaningful time to celebrate a child's uniqueness, and Made to Celebrate! ensures that these children feel seen, loved, and celebrated. I'm honored to help create positive memories during what can sometimes be a tough time for these kids."

The Made to Celebrate! program is available to children experiencing foster or kinship care in Lycoming and Clinton Counties. For more information or to get involved, visit dwellorphancare.org/madetoelebrate or contact program director, Kathie Sinibaldi at Kathie@dwellorphancare.org.
