The 48th Annual Canyon Pilots Association Labor Day Weekend All-You-Can-Eat Fly-In Breakfast is Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon indoors in the corporate hanger at the Grand Canyon Regional Airport in Delmar Township at 112 Runway Road, Wellsboro. The breakfast is open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
The Labor Day and Memorial Day fly-in breakfasts were originally started by the Tioga County Civil Air Patrol in 1977-78. When the Canyon Pilots Association was founded in 1988, the breakfasts became its responsibility.
According to a news release the menu includes ham, eggs, buckwheat pancakes, coffee and orange juice. Donations are requested, youngsters 3 and under are admitted free.
Parking, including handicapped parking, is available for free.
Weather permitting, pilots in various types of full-size aircraft will fly to the airport for the breakfast. If the weather cooperates, people are welcome to watch the airplanes land and take off and talk with the pilots about their “flying machines.”
Also available weather permitting will be flights over the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon for a fee.
Members of the Canyon Country Ultralight Club will assist with the breakfast.
The Mountain Modelaires, a local group, will have a display of radio-controlled model airplanes and helicopters in a nearby hanger.
