Region sees successes at National Baton Twirling Competition

Several athletes from the region competed at the National Baton Twirling Competitions in South Bend, Indiana, this summer, according to a news release from Phillips Fancy Footwork.

Avery Soltesz, 21, from Watsontown took 1st place in the Intermediate Solo 1 baton and the Strut competition in the 20 Plus age group. Avery is the Golden Girl Feature Twirler at Clarion University.

Scarlette Cooley. 7, from Montgomery took 1st place in the Intermediate 2-Baton division.

Leah Wetzel. 17, from Muncy took 1st place in the Beginner 3-Baton Category.

Savannah King, 8, from Mill Hall took 1st place in the Novice solo 1 baton and 1st place in the Novice 2-Baton.

Julia Howe, 6, from Jersey Shore took 1st place in the Novice 2-Baton A-K division.

Emilee Sauers, 7, from Loyalsock Township took 1st place in the Novice 2-Baton L-Z division.

Phillips Fancy Footwork also competed 12 team events recently, bringing home 2-2nd places, 1 third and 9 top ten placements.

“The Marshaletts Competition Team had a great week and all of these girls did solo events in addition to Team events,” the news release said. “They competed in solo 1 baton , 2-Baton, Strut, 3-Baton, Show Twirl and All American girl modeling! Most girls had all top 10 finishes!”
