American Legion Auxiliary holds service, meeting in Montgomery
Department of Pennsylvania’s American Legion Auxiliary’s Centre, Lycoming and Clinton counties Council was hosted by Bower Decker American Legion Auxiliary Unit #251 of Montgomery recently.
“Our special guest was our American Legion Auxiliary(ALA) Department of Pennsylvania’s Central Vice President, Julia Maldonado, who also is currently serving on National’s Eastern Division as Public Relations Chairman,” a news release said. “We also held our yearly Memorial Service, by our ALA Council Chaplain, Linda Womeldorf , for our deceased ALA members, that we lost this past year. ALA members from Glenn Sharrow ALA Unit #035-Hughesville; George W. Pepperman ALA Unit #036-Jersey Shore; Eugene Grafius ALA Unit #104-Montoursville; William Marshall Crawford ALA Unit #131-Lock Haven; Bower Decker ALA Unit #251-Montgomery; Roland Ritter ALA Unit #268-Muncy; Keystone ALA Unit #444- Millheim; Bitner-Bechdel ALA Unit #623-Beech Creek, and Mumpher-Shawley ALA Unit #893-Milesburg were in attendance.”
“These ladies are part of the largest Veterans Service Organization (VSO)in the world,” the news release continued. “Their mission being in the spirit of ‘Service, Not Self,’ the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve and have served, by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, they advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.”
The next ALA’s Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Council meeting will be hosted by Nittany American Legion Auxiliary Unit #245 in State College on March 11. All American Legion Auxiliary members are invited to attend. Contact your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit to make your reservations.
Centre, Lycoming and Clinton ALA Council will host a ALA Department of Pennsylvania Leadership Class hosted by William Marshall Crawford ALA Unit #131 of Lock Haven on March 28. All American Legion Auxiliary members are welcome to attend. Contact your local American Legion Auxiliary to make reservations to attend the organization’s leadership class.
