Library to host genealogy program

The James V. Brown Library, 19 East Fourth Street, is adding a Beginner’s Genealogy program to its free program offerings in an effort to make genealogy research less intimidating and more accessible.

Beginning genealogy researchers in Lycoming County have many resources available to them through the Lycoming County Genealogical Society, the James V. Brown Library, and free online databases. This program is for anyone who wants to learn how to utilize these resources to find more information on their family history. The program will also discuss best practices for paper and online record-keeping to catalog and keep track of the information they gather through this research.

Anyone can be a genealogy researcher, and anyone interested in learning more about their roots is encouraged to join Helen Yaos from the Lycoming County Genealogical Society for Beginner’s Genealogy at the library.

This program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 1 to 2 p.m. To register to attend this program, visit calendar.jvbrown.edu or call the library at 570-326-0536.
