Wellsboro arts center to host children story, craft
Mia Anderson of the Green Free Library is presenting a Deane Little Beans program Saturday, March 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts, 104 Main St., Wellsboro.
Every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Anderson hosts the library’s Storytime with Miss Mia for 1- to 5-year-olds. There is a waiting list.
According to a news release, the free March 14 Deane Little Beans event for children ages 3 to 12 is offering an interactive literacy-focused experience that encourages a love of reading and learning. Free snacks will be provided.
“Miss Mia will read one or two stories depending on the ages of the children attending, will lead a St. Patty’s Day-themed craft project for the kids to do and take home, and encourage them to join her in singing several songs,” the news release said. “One of the stories Miss Mia will be reading is ‘There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover’ by Lucille Colandro. This popular St. Patrick’s Day-themed children’s book for 3- to 6-year-olds is also enjoyed by older youngsters and adults. It is a rhythmic, cumulative, and silly story where an old lady swallows a clover — along with a daisy, butterfly, bird, pot, gold, and a fiddle — to make a rainbow and create a fun, festive ending with a leprechaun.”
During the program, Anderson will also answer questions about the reading progam she hosts at the Green Free Library; how to pre-register for the library’s upcoming dinosaur-themed summer reading program for readers of all ages, children and adults; along with other happenings.
Deane Little Beans is sponsored by UPMC Health Plan, First Citizens Community Bank, the Horace B. Packer Foundation, Charles Knox and Margaret C. Etner Foundation, and the Earl W. and Ina G. Tabor Foundation.
To ensure there will be enough supplies for all children attending, parents are asked to pre-register (RSVP) online at deanecenter.com or by calling 570-724-6220 or emailing director@deanecenter.com by 3 p.m., March 13.
