Library encourages community to find their library joy

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will celebrate National Library Week from April 19-25, 2026, with the theme “Find Your Joy,” inspired by Mychal Threets’s viral videos detailing the many ways a library can comfort and delight its visitors.

National Library Week, sponsored by the American Library Association, is a celebration of curiosity, exploration, and belonging. It’s the perfect opportunity to get to know your local library a little bit better. The Library is not a space reserved solely for silent, solitary academic study; it’s so much more.

It’s where children can play, build, color, learn, and create. It’s where teens can explore their interests, find community and independence, volunteer, and shape their own library experiences. It’s where adults can unwind, meet new people, affordably engage in their love of reading, access new and popular DVD releases, learn about community resources, and facilitate personal and professional growth.

This National Library Week, challenge yourself to learn something new about the James V. Brown Library and discover another way to Find Your Library Joy:

• Attend a free educational, social, or creative program.

• Plan weekly library visits with a friend and surprise each other with mystery books or DVDs.

• Explore the Library’s special collections and materials, like Lewisburg Children’s Museum Passes, rentable Wi-Fi hotspots, and print newspapers and magazines.

• Borrow a video game or board game and host a game night.

• Use the Library’s online resources, like learning tools through POWER Library, digital collections on Libby and Hoopla, and local history and genealogy archives for personal research.

• Reserve a private meeting room for quiet study, tutoring, virtual meetings, or telehealth appointments.

• Learn a new language through Transparent Language, a robust language-learning platform offered through POWER Library.
