Library to tout financial literacy month in April

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is celebrating Financial Literacy Month this April with 5 different programs to help community members of all ages learn the fundamentals of financial literacy and take with them strategies to manage their own personal finances.

For children in early childhood or elementary school, the Library is offering a Kids Financial Storytime on April 8, as well as two tours of M&T Bank on April 17. These programs will focus on the basics of money and banks.

For Tweens and Teens, the Library is offering a “What Would You Choose?” program in partnership with M&T Bank on April 24 where attendees will participate in a hands-on decision-making game that will help build their financial literacy.

The Library is also hosting “Thinking Money for Kids” on April 13, a program designed specifically for homeschoolers that will introduce children and tweens to some of the engaging, educational online games that build fundamental financial skills.

For Teens and Adults, the Library has partnered with M&T Bank to present a program all about retirement on May 1 which will provide attendees with options and strategies to start building wealth and financial security for the future.
