Concert salutes Broadway music

The May public concert of the Williamsport Music Club will be a program completely devoted to Broadway songs from stage and screen.

Program chairman David Koskey says there will be something for everyone. Songs from Mame, Newsies, Hello Dolly, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Oliver, Les Miserables, The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Miss Saigon, Fiddler on the Roof and Mamma Mia will be featured in the program.

According to a news release, Jim Burget will narrate the program. Vocal soloists include Susan Phillips, Wayne Harris, Diane Thomas, Katherine Cimini, Kristin Ivers and Scott Schell with his guitar and harmonica. Pianists include David Koskey, Tom Wetzel and Kristin Ivers, Diane Thomas will dance and Ellen Davis will perform a handbell solo. A vocal trio from Loyalsock Township High School — Rebecca Winter, Morgan Hersh and Caitlyn Killian — will share a number from their recent musical production of Mamma Mia.

The concert begins at 7 p.m., May 26, at Pine Street United Methodist Church, but come early and hear keyboard selections that begin at 6:45 p.m.

All are invited and there is no admission charge.
