Powwow coming to Forksville for weekend in June

“Bring the family to experience Native American music and dance at the Forksville Powwow,” a news release says. “The 34th annual Forksville Powwow will be held on Father’s Day weekend, June 20-21, 2026, at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds in Forksville.”

Gates open at 10 a.m. and Grand Entry is scheduled at noon both days (rain or shine). Veterans and those in active service are honored during opening ceremonies during a Veterans’ dance. Family members are invited to join in this dance honoring their loved ones. On Sunday, bring your father into the Dance Circle for the Father’s Day Dance.

Green’s Petting Zoo will be featured on Saturday (weather dependent), bringing baby pigs, bunnies, a baby camel, a pony, goats, and more that can be petted for free. Camel rides will be offered for an additional charge.

“CDE Exotics will be in attendance both days with free hands-on, fun education about exotic animals,” the news release said. “Free crafting and activities for kids will be offered at Wynd Drummer Woman’s tipi both days, as well as flint knapping demonstrations by Dr. Adam Brown.”

The powwow draws dancers from near and far and features Native North American powwow drum groups as well as the Salinas family Aztec dancers. Come sample the delicious variety of food, see beautiful handmade items for sale by vendors, participate with your family in social dances, and observe educational demonstrations.

There is an admission fee for adults while children 12 and under are free.

The event is hosted by EDN Inc., a non-profit organization that promotes Native American cultural education, and is sponsored by the local Kiwanis of Sullivan County. The Sullivan County Fairgrounds are located at 4430 Route 154 Forksville, PA 18616, a short distance from Worlds End State Park in the beautiful Endless Mountains.
