Museum to feature portrayal of Gettysburg witness
The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host its monthly Coffee Hour of the 2026 season at 10 a.m., July 9, with an appearance by Tillie Pierce, “who witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg at the tender age of 15,” a news release said. “She later recorded her reminiscences in ‘At Gettysburg: Or What a Girl Saw and Heard of the Battle.’ After the Civil War ended, Tillie married Mr. Alleman and moved in 1889 to Selinsgrove.”
Tillie Pierce will be portrayed by Carolyn Ludwig.
The Lecture Series which continues throughout the year is sponsored by Catherine Burns Insurance Services, Muncy. As well, the Series is co-sponsored by a Travel and Tourism Grant from the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau.
“The Lecture Series features a number of exciting programs and reenactors to celebrate the history and heritage of the country’s 250th birthday,” the news release said.
The lecture will be held in the Community Room of the Taber Museum and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served. The museum is located at 858 W. Fourth Street, Williamsport.
