"All are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of food, fellowship, music and fun at the St. Luke Lutheran Church Fall Festival on Sunday, September 13, following the 10:30 a.m. worship service," a news release says.
The festival will feature a cornhole tournament beginning at 1 p.m. at the church, 1400 Market Street. Teams may sign up in advance to compete. Boy Scout Troop 12 and Cub Scout Pack 12, both sponsored by the congregation, will assist with the tournament and other games for youngsters and adults.
A blues band featuring musically talented church members and friends will provide live entertainment. Sweet treats, hot dogs, walking tacos and baked goods will be available for a donation.
Proceeds from the festival will benefit the St. Luke Fund, which supports local, church and mission projects, the news release said. Current beneficiaries include the St. Luke Pre-School, which raised funds for new playground equipment; Sojourner Truth; and a Lutheran missionary serving in Costa Rica.
"Established in 1989 through bequests and gifts to the church, the St. Luke Fund provides grants to causes near and far 'that further the ministry of Jesus Christ in the world,' as well as funding for special projects within the congregation," the news release said. "Through the end of 2025, the fund had distributed about $1 million to church, missionary and community activities."
In addition to celebrating the fall season and enjoying fellowship with friends and neighbors, festival visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the many ministries and outreach activities offered through St. Luke Lutheran Church.
The community is invited to come for lunch, stay for the music and games, and enjoy an afternoon at St. Luke. Event will be held rain or shine.
