Firetree Place to host open house

3 min read

Firetree Place is inviting families, community members, local partners, and supporters to join them for a special Open House celebrating the organization, the children and families they serve, and the opening of their new expansion.

According to a news release, the expansion "represents an exciting new chapter for Firetree Place and will provide additional space and opportunities to serve local children and families."

This expansion now allows Firetree Place the capability to serve up to a maximum of 200 youth participants daily. Since the official opening in April of 2026, Firetree Place has almost doubled enrollment numbers, with room to grow as demands increase. Firetree Place will be opening an additional room for two-year-olds, widening the childcare services available to our community.

This addition also allows Firetree Place to reopen the space that was previously inaccessible during early learning/childcare service hours and provide an opportunity for use by community members once again. With improved access to the facilities for the public, they aim to bring in more programming and events that benefit the community. The Fresh Express Program partnership with the North Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has been moved back to the facility, and is now held inside, creating a more comfortable environment to serve our participants. Firetree Place serves an average of 160 households a week in this food distribution program.

The Open House will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., Oct. 12, 600 Campbell Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. This event will give community members the opportunity to tour the entire building, including the new childcare center, meet staff, learn more about programs, and see firsthand what services are provided for children and families in the community. Firetree Place's newly formed Community Advisory Council will also be available during the event.

"Our Open House is a chance for the community to see what happens inside our doors every day and to celebrate how much we have grown," said Billy Dayton, CEO, according to the news release. "We are excited to open our doors, showcase our new space, and share our vision for the future with the community."

Firetree Place aims to provide affordable, high-quality enrichment programs for children and youth in our community that also supports working families. Families in Williamsport and the surrounding community need a safe, affordable place where their children can go during the out-of-school and working hours to receive positive mentoring by trained and caring staff, be engaged in life and soft skill-based programs, receive educational assistance, and receive quality daily nutrition, the news release said. Firetree Place works diligently to provide our community with early learning/childcare services that allow parents and caregivers the ability to work to provide for their families. This expansion will allow us to continue fulfilling our mission of empowering our community to grow and succeed.
