The Valley of Williamsport PA Scottish Rite will host The Flying Ivories Dueling Pianos fundraising event on Nov. 15. Doors open at 1 p.m. with the show from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Howard Memorial Theater at the Scottish Rite.
"Get ready to sing along, laugh out loud, and experience live entertainment like never before," a news release said. "The Flying Ivories Dueling Pianos bring an electrifying blend of music, comedy, audience participation, and nonstop fun to the stage, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an extraordinary entertainment experience."
Featuring talented pianists, quick-witted performers, and a crowd-driven musical format, The Flying Ivories invite audiences to become part of the show.
"From classic rock anthems and timeless sing-alongs to pop favorites and unexpected musical requests, the performance celebrates the songs people know and love while keeping every moment spontaneous and entertaining," the news release said. "From Billy Joel to Aretha Franklin, from Sinatra to Metallica, from Johnny Cash to Taylor Swift, The Flying Ivories have it covered! Unlike a traditional concert, a dueling pianos show puts the audience in the driver's seat. Guests can request their favorite songs, sing along with the performers, and become part of an interactive experience where no two shows must be alike. The result is a lively atmosphere filled with laughter, friendly competition, musical surprises, and shared moments to keep audiences engaged from beginning to end."
"The magic of dueling pianos is that the audience isn't just watching a show - they are helping to create it," said Jack Becker, Events Committee Chair, according to the news release. "Whether guests want to sing their hearts out, request a favorite song, or simply enjoy the energy in the room, this show is creating an experience that brings people together through music. We hope that people will come, be part of the fun, and enjoy the afternoon especially before this busy holiday season begins."
This show is the second of three upcoming fundraising events for the 2026-27 season with 60% of the monies raised going to various local charitable organizations as well as supporting Scottish Rite charities such as children's dyslexia centers, continuing undergraduate and graduate scholarships for young men and women from Scottish Rite families, and providing assistance to Masons and their families facing unexpected hardships.
Jim Shaible, President of the Board of Trustees for the Williamsport Scottish Rite, stated, "After many years of the Scottish Rite Theater being underutilized, we started earlier this year hosting a tribute band with local ties. For the first time out the gate, it was quite a successful event, offering a safe venue to our audience, and proving that we have the abilities and skills necessary to bring in quality entertainment acts. The Howard Memorial Theater is a much smaller venue that has been used for a more intimate atmosphere which is great for The Flying Ivories, murder mystery shows and concerts. Moving forward, we are planning up to four major concerts in 2027 using tribute bands as an affordable and cost-effective alternative to provide live entertainment to the local community while helping to raise money to support local nonprofits and Masonic charities."
In September, the Williamsport Scottish Rite Foundation presented local non-profits over $12,000 for this year all monies coming from corporate sponsorships and ticket sales from two events held in 2026. The non-profits include Lycoming County SPCA, American Rescue Workers, YMCA/YWCA, American Red Cross, Central PA Food Bank, and Janet Weis Children's Hospital.
