The community turned out for a picture perfect day as Carz 4a Cause held its third annual car show at Wal-Mart in Montoursville, in support of the department store’s breast cancer initiative Sunday afternoon.
Cars 4a Cause originated in 2018, when founder, Charlie Lumbard's sister was in need of a kidney transplant.
"The following year, I did it for a high school buddy whose daughter had spinal leukemia, and it just traveled and grew, and 70 events later, we're still putting this together," Lumbard said.
The non-profit 501c holds events from Wellsboro to Watsontown, according to Lumbard.
Sunday's event marks his 12th this year, and saw a record participation of 140 rides for the Montoursville location.
Lumbard is no stranger to helping others, having served 14 years with the U.S. Army as a communication specialist and combat medic, and ten years as a firefighter with the Loyalsock Township Volunteer Fire Company.
A prostate cancer survivor himself, Lumbard recently got a clean bill of health.
"I went in for surgery, and a year later, my blood work is fantastic. So I think the Lord wants me to keep on doing these," he said.
"I don’t take a paycheck for any of this. I just spend a lot of hours, and it feels really good to do this for people," he said.
