PSU School of Theatre to present drama online
The Penn State School of Theatre presents a modern twist on marriage in “The Last Five Years.”
Penned by Jason Robert Brown, This Penn State Centre Stage virtual show is available at 7:30 p.m. tonight through Sunday at www.showtix4you.
The two person musical — she’s an actress and he is a novelist– is a memory show, as “this story has them looking back at memories of the last five years.”
The twist has the husband remembering their romance telling the tale in chronological order, while the wife remembers their love story in reverse chronological order.
Marketing notes that although there are only two in the cast, extra precautions were taken to maintain social distancing to ensure safety throughout the entire play.
For “The Last Five Years,” the actors refrain from touching anything around them or exchanging props.
The show’s dramaturgy emphasizes that the two actors must portray the emotions required despite wearing masks.
