Lewisburg theater group announces schedule

LEWISBURG — RiverStage’s 2021-22 attractions can easily be classified as a re-boot.

Although the COVID 19 pandemic shut down the Lewisburg-based community theater last year, RiverStage is gearing up for its upcoming season, announcing productions, most of which were originally booked for presentation last season.

RiverStage productions are staged at the Greenspace Center, 815 Market St., site of the former Lewisburg Area High School.

Jove Graham, RiverStage president, announces four shows plus a Victorian ballet, which comprise the 2021-22 season:

• Twelve Angry Men (Nov. 5-14) — The stage adaptation of Reginald Rose’s television classic will be directed by Derek Scott. Jury deliberations are tense as the panel debates and argues the verdict of a young man charged with a stabbing murder.

• A Lewisburg Victorian Nutcracker (Dec. 11) — The 4th joint collaboration between Strictly Ballet and RiverStage Theatre features Tchaikovsky’s most famous composition. The single performance of this Christmas classic is directed by Amy Casimir.

• The Secret Garden (Feb. 1 – 20, 2022) — The musical version of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s tale follows a young orphan girl’s curiosity to unravel a long kept secret in the garden surrounding her stern uncle’s home.

• Five Women Wearing the Same Dress (Apr. 1 -10, 2022) — Jennifer Wakeman directs this ensemble comedy penned by Alan Ball. Each with a private tale to tell, five identically dressed bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs room, to avoid the newly wed couple’s rowdy reception .

• Monty Python’s Spamalot (June 17 -28, 2022) — Supposedly “lovingly ripped” from the classic comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” this madcap musical is directed by Jove Graham. Marketing suggests that this is a funny, frantic, and fractured finale.

For the safety of cast, staff, and patrons, all COVID 19 measures will be in place and strictly enforced.

Seating for all RiverStage productions is General Admission.
