Benefit concert to feature Elton John’s music

The Lycoming County United Way will host Live United in Music II at 7:15 p.m., Sept. 30 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport

“You don’t want to miss your only chance to sing along with the Music of Elton John, starring Michael Cavanaugh, backed by the LIVE UNITED in Music Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Walt Straiton,” a news release said.

Michael Cavanaugh is “the new voice of the American Rock & Roll Songbook and a charismatic performer and musician made famous for his piano/lead vocals in the Broadway musical ‘Movin’ Out,’ “ according to the performer’s website. “Handpicked by Billy Joel to star in ‘Movin’ Out,’ Cavanaugh evokes a style rivaling the Piano Man.”

Cavanaugh appeared in the show for three years with over 1,200 performances and received multiple accolades. The show culminated in 2003 with both Grammy and Tony award nominations, according to Cavanaugh’s website.

The Lycoming County United Way previously hosted a benefit concert featuring Cavanaugh and the music of Billy Joel in October, 2019.

All proceeds benefit the Lycoming County United Way and our support for community service programs in Lycoming, Sullivan and Tioga counties.
