Music club to share performances Tuesday

Williamsport Music Club will host its Spring Gala at 7:30 p.m., April 26. The public is invited to this event chaired by Victoria and Jason Hurwitz that will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St.

The club will celebrate the winner of the 2022 Budd Memorial Scholarship, according to a news release. Violinist Marlowe Jacques will perform his audition piece — the First Movement of the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

The evening will be filled with instrumental and vocal music. Leatha Kieser will open the program with the organ selection “Joy,” by Alexander Peloquin.

Sopranos Sarah Decker and Sara Scott sing Mozart’s ” ‘Sull’aria’ from ‘Le nozzle di Figaro. ‘ “ Kristin Ivers is pianist.

Laura Garside (saxophone) and Rebecca Pritchard (piano) will perform “Sonata No. 3, Mvt. I: Adagio & Mvt. II: Allegro” by Sigurd Raster. They are followed by violinists Jason Hurwitz and Sarah Hamm and cellist Matt Radspinner playing “You Are The Reason” by Calum Scott; and Jon Boden’s “How Long Will I Love You.”

The news release said Wendy McCormick will play two numbers on her Celtic harp — “Starlight” by Steve Schack and “Sands of Hosta” by Ailie Robertson. Then she will be joined by Lucy Henry on the dulcimer performing “Waltzing With You” by Molly Mason; and “Morgan Magan” by Turlough O’Carolan; and “Mountain House” by Jay Ungar.

“Duetto Buffo Di Due Gatti” by Gioachino Rossini is presented by Andrea Burleigh (trombone), Chris Morgan (trumpet), and Kristin Ivers (piano).

Sam Robinson closes the Gala with the organ rendition of “Theme from Jurassic Park” by John Williams.

Greeters will be Georgia Burch and Jan Warren. Membership in the Williamsport Music Club does not require participation in performances. The club is a member of the State and National Federations of Music Clubs.
